Compare how uTorrent sees peer connections. Peer connections are generally peer-to-peer or server-to-peer. Either way, you download from peers. There are several limitations to the goal for a peer-to-peer network: P2P implies the anonymity of users. It is not advisable for important, private information. The main reason for this is that no network-wide directory of peers is kept on a central server. So if your system crashes, or is otherwise unreachable, some attempts to reconnect can start from the wrong place in the network. P2P networks are inherently complicated systems. P2P networks are always more stable for small and less popular files, which tend to be less popular, making the use of a peer-to-peer network inefficient when you need large, common files.
It is also clear that these excellent software have large security vulnerabilities that they are either not alerting the users about or not able to correct. So if you are using uTorrent, or any BitTorrent app, be careful.
The current uTorrent builds are not intelligent enough to get you your files. There is an app called Deluge, which I recommend instead. To get it, search www.deluge-torrent.org in your search engine of choice.
If someone makes a true open source version, and its working then I would be happy to try it. But until then I am sticking to what I have. If theres a program that is most efficient at ungigantic files, and doesnt have to be restarted, its uTorrent.
I am assuming uTorrent is using your copy of the codecs. Try installing a different copy. There are some copies available online. I have not updated my codecs in over a year but you might want to contact them for a copy (i use google, type in codec version for individual codecs) 3d9ccd7d82
