When installing Exchange Server 2016 or Exchange Server 2013, the installation process might have failed or been interrupted at some stage, then resumed and finally completed successfully. However, when you try to access EAC or OWA, you receive the following error message:

You run an unattended installation to upgrade Microsoft Exchange Server 2019, Microsoft Exchange Server 2016, or Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 from PowerShell or command prompt by using setup.exe. The Setup program starts and may indicate that it has completed successfully. However, Exchange isn't updated.


When you apply a CU (for Exchange Server 2013, 2016 or 2019) or Rollup package (for Exchange Server 2010), the process updates OWA files and .config files if necessary. As a result, any customization that you may have made to Exchange or Internet Information Server (IIS) settings in Exchange XML application configuration files on the Exchange server will be overwritten when you install an Exchange CU. Examples of such application configuration files include web.config files, EdgeTransport.exe.config files, and any customized logon.aspx Outlook on the web files. Make sure to save this information so you can easily reapply the settings after the CU is installed.


The Cygwin tools have been updated to versions current as ofNovember 19, 2013. Cygwin now builds separate 32 bit and 64 bitversions; we include 32 bit versions of the tools. If your system only has 64bit Cygwin DLLs installed, you will need to add our Cygwin DLLs to your path(or install the 32 bit Cygwin DLLs into Cygwin).


The fix is currently only available in Insider build 16.0.9124.2004 and higher. It will eventually be made available to Monthly Channel versions later in March. For Semi-Annual Channel and Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted) versions, please disable ADAL on the client as a workaround. Beginning with Office 2013, each Excel workbook is displayed in a separate window by default, even though it is the same Excel instance. The reason is that Excel 2013 started to use the Single Document Interface (SDI), in which each document is opened in its own window and handled separately. Meaning, in Excel 2013 and later versions, each application window can only contain one workbook that has its own ribbon UI.


Tip. To switch between different windows displaying different spreadsheets, use the Ctrl + F6 shortcut.How to open multiple instances of ExcelWhen opening multiple files in Excel 2013 and later, each workbook is displayed in a separate window. However, they all open in the same Excel instance by default. In most cases, that works just fine. NeverQuest was a major player in the field of banking trojans from 2013 through to early 2017 when one of its developers was arrested in Spain. It is thought that the IcedID malware, which was discovered by IBM in September 2017, is likely to be the successor of NeverQuest. The NeverQuest group reportedly had a close relationship with Dyre, aka Dyreza, the predecessor of Trickbot, potentially explaining the close relationship between the Trickbot and IcedID groups today.


Many of the samples analysed throughout this report all make use of the same custom hooking library for the process of setting hooks and storing information about set hooks. We have not been able to trace this hooking code back to any public source and the code does not match the hooking functions found in the leaked source code for trojans such as Gozi, Carberp, and Zeus. Our analysis indicates that this hooking library was likely developed by NeverQuest, aka Vawtrak in 2013, and since then it has shown up in Trickbot inject modules starting in 2016, Ramnit binaries from 2018, and Bumblebee from 2021.


NeverQuest is an older banking trojan which was active from 2013 through to early 2017 and is thought to be the predecessor of IcedID. The group behind NeverQuest were thought to have close ties to the Dyre/Dyreza group, which was the predecessor of Trickbot, and IcedID and the Trickbot group continue to share that close relationship.


The below images show an example of the evolution of one of the functions within the hooking library from 2013 to 2016. The version found in the 2016 sample bears close resemblance to the Trickbot equivalent above, and to the versions used in Ramnit and Bumblebee later on. The size of the 32-bit hook item structure used by library also changes over this time, from 75 bytes in the earlier NeverQuest samples to 71 bytes in the 2016 sample. The size remains at 71 bytes throughout its later use in Trickbot, Ramnit, and Bumblebee.


The first part of this issue was identified by the Apache Tomcat security team on 27 August 2013 and the second part by Saran Neti of TELUS Security Labs on 5 November 2013. It was made public on 25 February 2014.


zpaq is a free and open sourceincremental, journaling command-line archiver for Windows, Linux and Mac OS/X.Incremental means that when you back up your hard drive, forexample: zpaq add e:\backup.zpaq c:\*then only those files whose last-modified date or size has changed sincethe previousbackup are added. Uncompressible data is simply stored.An E8E9 filter is applied if x86 data (normally found in .exe and .dllfiles) is detected. The filter replaces x86 CALL and JMP relativeaddresses with absolute addresses to make the data more compressible.Data analysiszpaq has list options to make it easier to examine the contentsof archives containing millions of files. Anarchive is divided into blocks that can be decompressed independently.Each block begins with a 13 byte tag that can be found by scanningif the previous block is damaged.
